Why — for every option

  1. A — Members of the European Parliament are elected directly by citizens (European elections).
  2. B — Correct: the Federal President is not elected by the people but by the Federal Convention (Art. 54 Basic Law), a body that convenes specially from the Bundestag and state representatives.
  3. C — State parliament (Landtag) members are elected directly by the citizens of their respective federal state.
  4. D — Bundestag members are elected directly by the eligible electorate (Art. 38 Basic Law).
