Elections in Germany are free. What does that mean?

Why — for every option

  1. A — That would be electoral bribery — a criminal offence under § 108b of the Criminal Code, not an expression of free elections.
  2. B — The right to vote depends on citizenship, age and residence, not on having no criminal record.
  3. C — Correct: free elections mean freedom from coercion and influence when casting a vote, and no disadvantage may result from voting.
  4. D — There is no obligation to vote in Germany; nobody is required to go to the polls.
